Feeling Nostalgic for Christmas?

Christmas morning is a favorite time at our house.  We hang out in our PJ’s, open gifts, and eat a Christmas breakfast together.  I enjoy being with my family without needing to rush off to deliver my son to school or myself to work, and the excitement of opening the long anticipated presents under the Christmas tree.

In honor of our 12 Days of Christmas in July and in celebration of our upcoming Advent book, would you share your favorite Christmas tradition in the comments below?

Preorder your copy today, and follow along for gifts and surprises as part of our 12 Days of Christmas (in July) celebration!

  1. We go to a local tree farm with some of the family and cut a fresh tree. Then some of the grandchildren come and help decorate it. Our time to gather is on Christmas Eve.

  2. My little sister and I have (a rather extensive) list of Christmas movies we enjoy watching together throughout the holiday season. It’s comforting and special to watch favorites. It’s relaxing, and it’s nice to have so much time with my sister!

  3. My favorite is a Christmas Eve tradition that my husband and I began a decade or so ago when we became empty nesters. We are blessed to live at the New Jersey shore, so we go for a walk on the beach in the afternoon. It is beautiful and peaceful (we are usually the only ones there) and a great way to relax before I get ready for Christmas Eve Worship at the church I pastor.

  4. Now that our children are grown and there are eight grandchildren, “Christmas” is not usually December 25, but whenever they can all gather at our house. Having them gathered under my wing warms my heart.

  5. After we get home from the Christmas Eve service at church, we always open a new pair of pajamas. We then put them on and turn off all the lights except the tree and enjoy some time just talking and enjoying the beauty of the tree before heading off to bed.
